Whitewater State Park: Chimney Rock Trail

We wanted to spend our Labor Day outdoors and hiking is a family favorite. So we headed to Whitewater State Park, about a 40 minute drive east of Rochester. All visitors need a permit to park, so visit the main office (along Highway 74) before embarking on any activities. A single day pass is $5. At the office we spoke to a ranger about hikes and found one that suited us- something not too long, but a good workout and great views. We were referred to Chimney Rock Trail and it did not disappoint! The hike takes you to the top of the limestone bluffs with views all around and the Whitewater River below. We had our two little ones in hiking backpacks but I do think a slightly older child (5 plus maybe?) could hike up the trail.

Hiking is something we really enjoy doing as a family, what trails do you recommend around here?
